Audio First: an event series for audio professionals, creators, and enthusiasts
Brought to you by Anchor
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that at Anchor, a company focused on building audio products for everyone, we think and talk a lot about the current state of audio: Why are podcasts so popular right now? What is the future of radio? How can the creation and distribution of high quality music become more easily democratized? Turns out, there are a lot of people out there, all over the world, who are thinking about the same things. We realized there was no central hub or offline community for this type of thinking…so we decided to start an event series to get these people together IRL. To start, we’re launching an event series to bring together the community of people working on answering these questions to exchange ideas and talk to each other. It’s called Audio First.
Why the name? At Anchor, we have a product philosophy that goes by the same name (audio first). It’s a set of guiding principles that help us make smarter decisions about building new tools, creating innovative content, and revolutionizing the way people listen to this compelling format that has been popular for over a century. For example: we believe digital audio products should be built with a primary focus on the hands-off listening or creation experience, leaving the visual aspects to be sorted out later. If you want to read more about some of these principles, check out this post I wrote when we launched Anchor.
Our initial Audio First event will take place this Tuesday, November 15th in NYC. It includes a panel on “The Future of Audio”, featuring some amazing experts in the space, including:
- Delaney Simmons — Director of Social Media for WNYC
- Mick Batyske (aka MICK) — multi-talented creative, DJ, investor, music curator, & brand consultant
- Andrea Silenzi — host and producer of Why Oh Why, the popular Panoply podcast
- Anthony Delia — Senior Vice President of Marketing for Atlantic Records
